Why fleets still struggle

The cost of how it’s done today

PPE disappears into a shared cupboard with no issue log. Sizes run out mid-trip, crew requests get lost in WhatsApp, and shore cannot see what was issued or what to reorder.

The traditional approach

A paper PPE issue book (if anyone fills it in), a static minimum list in a spreadsheet, and emergency orders when gloves or hard hats run out at the worst moment.

With WaterTightVM

What changes when this is under control

A per-vessel PPE locker with a company catalog (including sizes), onboard stock against minimums, crew requests from the app into an approval queue, issue history, optional per-crew budgets, and one-click replenishment orders from below-minimum lines into procurement.

Time back

Issue PPE and raise a below-minimum order in minutes instead of hunting the locker and emailing shore for sizes.

Less waste

Minimum levels and optional crew budgets curb over-issue and panic reorders of the wrong sizes.

Lower risk

Issue history and approval trails show who received PPE—and highlight shortfalls before a job or inspection.

Questions before you commit

Can crew request PPE from the mobile app?
Yes. Crew requests appear in the PPE Locker approval queue so officers can approve, decline, or dispense.
Does PPE Locker create procurement orders?
Yes. “Create order from below minimum” builds a replenishment order from shortfall lines, typically into the Safety procurement category when configured.
What are PPE budgets?
Optional per-vessel settings: a monthly allowance per crew member (with optional rollover). When enabled, issues that would exceed remaining budget are blocked.
Is PPE Locker included for every company?
No. It is an optional My Vessel module enabled on the company profile (PPE Locker / ppe_locker_enabled), with rank permissions for view and issue.
