MARPOL, BWM and ISPS electronic record books (under development)
Electronic MARPOL, ballast water, biofouling, and ISPS statutory record books are under development — not live in WaterTightVM today.
Why fleets still struggle
The cost of how it’s done today
Paper Oil, Garbage, and Ballast Water Record Books live in a cupboard until an inspector asks. Corrections are scribbled, pages go missing, and shore cannot see whether yesterday’s operation was recorded.
The traditional approach
Annex books filled by hand, photocopied for the office, and reconstructed the night before PSC — with no reliable trail of who changed what.
With WaterTightVM
What changes when this is under control
Electronic MARPOL, BWM, biofouling, and ISPS statutory record books are under development. They are not available in WaterTightVM today. The planned design covers operation-code entries, Master verify, amendment history, true-copy PDF, and paper fallback. WaterTightVM will not issue a flag Declaration; you will be able to store a copy of an issued Declaration for carriage when the module ships.
Time back
When live, officers will record each operation once with the fields the code requires, instead of rewriting annex pages and scanning them for shore.
Less waste
When live, one module is planned to cover ORB, GRB, CRB, BWRB, and related MARPOL books instead of a stack of paper volumes and a separate e-log licence.
Lower risk
When live, entries will not be deletable; amendments will keep originals; Master verify and true-copy PDF are planned for defensible PSC records.
