Why fleets still struggle

The cost of how it’s done today

In a chemical spill or routine paint job, minutes spent hunting the SDS binder are minutes too many—and the binder is often out of date.

The traditional approach

Shared-drive PDFs and cupboard folders go stale. Duplicate uploads multiply. Crew without dashboard logins cannot reach the sheet they need at the worksite.

With WaterTightVM

What changes when this is under control

Maintain one company SDS catalog, link products to vessels, search by name, UN number, CAS, or barcode, and place a printable QR poster so anyone with the vessel link can open assigned sheets without logging in.

Time back

Barcode and catalog search find a sheet in minutes instead of hunting paper folders.

Less waste

One company catalog reused across vessels—fewer duplicate uploads and reprints.

Lower risk

Current SDS at the point of use via QR, with link rotation if the public URL is compromised.

How SDS Library delivers it

Company-wide SDS product catalog

Link products per vessel (prefer catalog to avoid duplicates)

Search by name, part number, UN, manufacturer, CAS, barcode

PDF upload for new SDS entries

Public vessel QR / link (read-only, no login)

Printable workplace poster with QR

Capabilities

  1. Rotate public link if compromised (old QRs stop working)
  2. Browse with safety read; add/link with safety write
  3. Mobile Docs → SDS Library with cache after prepare
  4. Align part numbers with paint store and procurement
  5. Public URL is sensitive—anyone with the link sees the vessel SDS list
  6. Verify currency of cached sheets after offline prepare

Ship to shore

How the work moves

Questions before you commit

Can anyone scan the QR code?
Yes. The public vessel SDS link is read-only and does not require a WaterTightVM login. Treat the URL as sensitive and rotate it if it is exposed beyond the vessel.
Who can add or link SDS products?
Users with safety read can browse. Adding entries and linking products to vessels typically requires safety write.
Does the QR open the full dashboard?
No. It opens the controlled public SDS list for that vessel only—not the company dashboard or other modules.
Can SDS sheets work offline on mobile?
After prepare-for-offline, the crew app may show cached sheets. Confirm you still have the current edition before relying on a cache.
